The movie that put stoner movies back on the map, written by and starring the great Dave Chappelle. This is the story of three stoners who come up with a series of crazy schemes to get a friend out of jail.
Half Baked is a hilarious 1998 comedy that reminded us all what stoned movies are all about. Starring Dave Chappelle (who also co-wrote it) as Thurgood Jenkins, a stoner with 2 stoner friends, Brian (Jim Breuer), Kenny (Harland Williams) and Scarface (Guillermo Diaz). One night, Kenny is sent by his buddies to get some munchies, and gets arrested sent to prison after feeding a diabetic police-horse and killing it. His anus is under constant threat, so his friends devise a plan to get his bail money by selling some killer medical weed that Thurgood is stealing from the laboratory he works in.
The film is a touchstone for many stoners, who feel that its humor, silliness, and wisdom were long overdue and helped bring the stoner film genre (such as Cheech & Chong) back into popularity.
E-stoned has one reservation about this movie, though: Why the hell does Thurgood give up marijuana in the end? Are they going educational on us or something? This is not cool.

Tommy Chong from "Cheech & Chong" appears in the movie as "The Squirrel Master", an old convict who names Kenny as his "bitch" in prison, and gives him protection from Nasty Nate, a huge black guy threatening to take Kenny's fruit cocktail and virginity.

Famous country singer Willie Nelson has a cameo appearance as an old hippie telling about the good old days when weed was cheap and everyone fucked without condoms.
