The Bulldog Coffee Shop
by Clint
Possibly the most famous coffeeshop in Amsterdam. This coffee shop now has several branches all over the city, including the original No. 90 and the huge Palace coffeeshop/pub on Leidsepein.
The Bulldog is probably the coffee shop equivalent of a fast-food chain. The first, The Bulldog No. 90, is claimed by some to be the first coffee shop in Amsterdam; Its branches are commercial, popular, and some are quite big.
The original Bulldog, on Oudezijds Voorburgwal 90, might be a bit passé now, but this is where it all began back in 1975. Number 90 is generally recognised as having been the first coffee shop in Amsterdam. Not the best cannabis in town but the orange juice is good and, being in the heart of the Red Light District, the view is interesting too.

The Bulldog Palace, The Bulldog's flagship coffeeshop on Leidseplein 17, is probably the best known coffee shop in all Amsterdam. It's a big place right on the Leidseplein square.
There are several Bulldog places along this canal including a bike rental shop and a hotel. Others elsewhere around town include Other Bulldogs are Energy, Lounge, Mack, Rockshop and All Sports Cafe.
